hohoho. look! gab typed everything abt the camp out already! now i don't have to! HAHA. ok but it's all from her perspective.
ONE camp2nd-6th decDay 1, 2nd dec, 830hrswe met the rest of our church at ACSI. the reg area was packed with people , some still arriving on buses. we did reg and went up to our dorms. ONE camp officially started! in case i didn't say before, the camp is attended by youths from methodist schools and churches. yths from BMC,BRMC,PMC,MGS,FMC etc...fun fun fun.930hrswe met at the basketball court for
games. the
games would eventually decide which groups set out first for the Xtreme Race, which is something like Amazing Race. all the way till 830pm. we went around orchard completing
games and obstacles to obtain clues. one part we had to plaster ourselves wiith gel and white cream and mime out a song. then we had to get people to vote for us. after that we had no time to change, so we walked from Paragon to PS with people staring at us. all the groups met there for a final showdown which was..photo hunt! we had to go to either chinatown, geylang, kallang or somewhere to take pictures of certain people and places. the first 3 grps to get back to ACS would have free flow of titbits and no duties for the whole of the camp! we were second in the end...900 to 1100 hrswe showered and had supper in the dining hall. we had to use pails and buckets!! it was quite easy though.. got used to it.Day 2, 3rd dec, 715 hrswoke up, washed up and went to breakfast. we had QT after that.. then praise and worship. the worship was so hyper.. something like hillsong concerts.. so we were really looking forward to them. then we had theme talks and workshops. we had ample bathing time that day, from 4- 6pm. everyday after i bathed, i perspired again.630 hrs'xtra value meal'. we were supposed to observe silence.. then we were served plain rice only. supposed to let us experience poverty. then in the middle of the meal, 'terrorists' burst in. we were kind of expecting some surprise already, but for me it was a first- time experience. others had gone through it before. anyway , the 'terrorists' were really loud and fierce. they made the whole situation seem so real. we were all supposed to squat down and put our hands on our heads. deathly silence. they kicked our rice around and stomped here and there. one girl (the supporting actress) was pretending to cry and be terrified. she was good...then the terrorists asked questions like who was willing to stand up for their religion etc.. after some time the group leaders were supposed to blindfold their groups and lead them out. it was over la. we sat at the parade square and discussed what happened, how we felt, etc.800hrswe started the concert of prayer. there were four stations we were supposed to go to. there was an underground church, a whole stretch of rooms portraying different religions, the fiery furnace station and one with disease awareness and what the world is obsessed with. we were supposed to pray for the world after each station..pray for salvation, pray for openess and pray for harvest. after that was supper and i went to sleep at 1130pm.Day 3, 4th decas usual, workshops, theme talks in the morning. we had a special task that day. each person was to meet up with a non christian friend at anywhere you want, as a group or individual. just be back at ACS by 530. i called yuwei, but she wasn't free. so my whole grp did a survey at jurong east. we got back earliest, at 3 plus. the girls in my grp hogged the shower and took a long bath. we sat around and talked.. there was a theme talk in the night then supper and sleep. Day 4, 5th declast day of camp.. there was sunday service outdoors. then non-messy
games from 10 to 12. after lunch we had one workshop and then the fun started. 3pm, everyone met at the field for super messy
games. we had to pass half watermelons and papayas with our feet. the fruit was covered with hot starch! we got sticky la. then we had to pass bread with our faces from one end to the other.. everything was put in a trash bag. then we had to get in the bag in our groups, and make the contents into pulp for 'fruit bombs'. it was so disgusting. i went around sliming people instead. the final obstacle... we had 16 groups in all. 8 grps were at the sides first and the other split into two sides. they were supposed to crawl on detergent covered mats to the other side at the same time. when two groups met, the members would play scissors, paper, stone. the winner proceeded to the other side. we could prevent them by throwing the fruit bombs. we all smelt like vomit!! then the last part was 2 big groups taking turns to go on the mat and get water bom
bed by the rest. one exploded in my face. my eye got the impact and it hurt..since the toilets were packed, i played captain's ball at the court with other people until i was fairly dry. we played with ACS boarders from china. they're so good at the game!730 to 1000 hrsthe E-concert started .. again, we were supposed to invite our friends. it was Singapore Idol style, with the logo and all. the excitement was definitely in the atmosphere, cos teams were given idols to vote for. they sang pop songs like 'the reason' and' welcome to my life'. i screamed very loudly for everyone. and we jumped and waved the banners we made. the idols were christians from the committee, who were pretending to be idols. they sang well though..the whole hall was like a true concert night. then..JERRY from Singapore Idol came . He was from Trinity MC..and one of the good friends of the camp com. people. he shared his testimony and how he felt during the contest when people insulted him. we felt so guilty..so we kept screaming for him. i managed to shake hands with him and got a picture of both of us. i even talked to him one-on-one ... if not for supper, i would have talked longer. heh. i guess this is as close to stardom as i will get.. he's a really nice person anyway. we ended with a high, some people accepted Christ! then we worshipped and sang super high-energy songs. cos it was the last night, no one slept early. our church hang out on the parade sq talking and playing
games. there were groups gathered everywhere. i went to
bed at 0130, very tired. there was no aircon that night!! i managed to sleep anyway.Day 5, 6th decwe woke up as usual, and for some reason i had no appetite so i threw away the food. we had debrief/worship from 9 to 11 and that was the end of camp..Overall..the camp was great. alot of freedom on our part, and organized timing. great
games, great people, great food. it was kind of luxurious for a camp. we had air-con almost everywhere..we were all reluctant to leave. after all, it was a 5-day camp, where we built close friendships already.. i took many pictures (again with other people's camera) and we all exchanged contacts. the next meeting with the ONE camp yths will prob be in Jan, at a christian concert 'Fusion', again organized by TRAC, truth ministries. can't wait to meet them..i learnt alot about worshipping with your heart..and i learnt the tools of evangelism and prayer.. this camp was very fruitful.by the way we didn't go home after the camp. we went to town for lunch and met other campers too!
so there you go. well.. my group wasn't gab's grp. my group was icecream (originally called group 5 but we decided to try and sound more exciting) bc we kept getting distractd by icecream during the amazing race which is not really out fault. it was on sale! well. in the end we were so far behind everyone else. but that's ok! bc the other 13 grps still had to do duty. haha. i feel slpy. i'm gg to slp.
